A 2G is non-upgradable. It is crippled by the factory.

You might have an older model where the memory is soldered to the board and there is no expansion slot.

Hi, any idea how do we check whether ours is an older model? Besides opening up the whole thing to see if it is soldered.

Unfortunately, and as far as I’m aware, no. Asus didn’t specify within their models which have different system board revisions. Asus only knows this through their serial number ranges.

oh, thanks for the reply….yesterday night, I took the courage to just unscrew the bottom of my eeepc 701, and I realized that it has that two “thing”s at the side that secures the ram. So I believe my ram can be taken out like What I see in most of the videos. Haha, now I only need to figure out how to get rid of Linux and install XP, then I will add a 2 gig ram. Next, I will buy those DIY touch screen set and fix it in. Then I will be very happy! Hehe…
