I’m lost @ 2:15
I’m doing the same thing but it says can’t find ls /dev/ttyUSB/

someone please help!

it is /dev/ttyUSB0 <–Do not miss the zero
Does it show up when you type ls /dev/ttyUSB* ?
If you have a serial GPS it will be /dev/ttyS0

I tried both and it says ‘no file or directory’

also, when running the bt4 live cd in parallels i can’t find the kismet.conf file nor the readme

when Im in bt4 and i open a terminal window and type ‘kismet’ it runs the program but it cant scan because I havnt edited the kismet.conf file with my settings

can you tell me what I’m doing wrong? sry4badgrammar

Have you tried Sun VirtualBox or the 30 day trail of VMWare? Does your GPS device work on your host operating system? If it does not work on the host OS it will not work on the guest OS. In this example I am using BackTrack Beta since it has the Kismet-Oldcore instead of the Kismet-NewCore.

I don’t think its the virtual machine I’m using because I’ve tried both VMWare and Parallels with no luck.

I’ll check out Sun VirtualBox and BT beta.

So when I get to the kismet.conf (if I get there) what do I have to input?

Does your gps device work on your host operating system?

You have to set two values in the kismet.conf file
First set the source=interface,device,user
source=wlan0,rt8187,root
Second set the gps= value to true
gps=true

I’m not using a gps device.

But can I type

source=wlan0,rt8178,root

right when bt4 starts up?
