Great presentation !
Easy to forget these cheaper Box’es now with all the NVidia ION-frenzy, but the N270 Atom isn’t bad and as long as you don’t have HDTV ambitions these hold up very well. Standard TV and DVD resolution is quite effortless. And for replacing all those old PC boxes…time to let go and bring those to recycling !! This can be a great music centre also and can deliver 5.1 channel digital audio for movies.
hey is this computer the same way as a regular pc, i mean like the setup, the start button with all the programs? can you download lets say for example limewire or AIM?
Asus > Acer
ASUS FTW
i have an eee pc laptop and its awesome
the guy say triple e pc so funny. so weird even the president of asus call it eeeeee not triple e
the msi wind Sucks ass. slower than the eee pc 900. i’d rather go with the EEE-Box
Asus eee box or MSI Wind nettop?
How does this device go with playing video? I was thinking of hooking it up to my TV to play all of my DIVX movies…
haha that mounting bracket thing for it to go behind monitor is just to make it more like a Mac. Dont get me wrong, i despise Macs, nevertheless, smart
so cheap as well! holy crap
What type of cd’s?
You can transfer cd’s to a usb key, and plug that in to it….
You can even make bootable usb keys which you can use to install different OS’s.
Is there a way to load cd’s?
external usb.
So.. it’s in a box?
how bout a DVD drive/cd?
No it hasn’t, the B204 has it.
Wii design FTW!
hey watch my video response plz
My eee 701 came with Xandros Linux. When you right click the button in the corner you can get to the options, where you can configure what it should do when you close the lid. I set mine to keep running but with the screen off to save power.
I also disabled any hibernate after idle times.
eee 701 is just one netbook. There are plenty of other netbooks, that are cheap and also come with a harddrive.
The only advantage that I see is a dvi out, but for video this thing is too slow anyway.
I just tried my eee 701 and I can’t get it to do anything but suspend to disk or standby when I close the lid. Perhaps something is old/wrong in my OS or BIOS.
DVI+2.5″ harddrive is what makes it different than netbooks. But look at Apple, the Mac Mini is a Macbook without a screen and they charge a small fortune for the thing.
The Eeepc runs perfectly fine with the lid closed. They run just as reliable as anything. You can configure what it should do with the lid closed. I’ve had mine set to just keep running, but it’s possible that the default tells it to hibernate. You control this. Fully reliable.
DVI output – that is indeed a difference which could indeed be an issue.
As for esthetics, not a big deal.
I still I’d be paying for a netbook without a screen for the full netbook price.
Why do you keep responding with almost the same comment?
Just because you don’t want one doesn’t make everyone else stupid!
Well the eeepc doesn’t run while the lid is closed. You can’t make them run reliably with the lid closed.
Also EeeBox has DVI output unlike the EeePC. And it has 2.5″ SATA hdd bay, unlike the EeePC.
It also mounts behind your monitor getting it off your desk, while your closed eeepc idea would mean you’d have to sort of stick a closed laptop on your desk somewhere with cables coming out of both sides(power, usb and vga are on different sides with that laptop), yuck.
I love my EEEbox. It’s perfect to browsing and email. I don’t feel like I need to keep my main system running 24/7 for my email alerts, random browsing, etc. This thing is very quiet and boots fast, plus it has Splashtop in the BIOS if you just want to use Firefox without booting into Windows/Linux.
There are plenty of netbooks also with a harddrive and a gig of ram, pretty much for the same price as this thing.
It’s a netbook without a screen for the same price. How stupid does one have to be to fall for that?
yes it has bluetooth
