Running Kismet and GPSd under BackTrack 4 Final ISO using Sun VirtualBox on Windows 7
How to setup Kismet and GPSd using the BackTrack 4 Final ISO in Sun VirtualBox on a Windows 7 host operating system. This video demonstrates a three part process. Part 1: Create your virtual machine using Sun VirtualBox and the BackTrack 4 Final ISO file bt4-final.iso. Part 2: Initilize your USB devices for the first time using Sun VirtualBox and then restart your workstation. Part 3: Boot your BackTrack 4 virtual machine using Sun VirtualBox and begin using Kismet and GPSd. In this example we are using the following USB devices: 1. Linksys WUSB54G ver 4 wireless adapter 2. DeLorme Earthmate USB LT-20 GPS receiver 3. Kingston 4 Gig USB mass storage device We use Kismet to generate log files for our 802.11x audit and copy them to our removable USB storage device for later processing. In this example we will use giskismet and SQLite to produce .CSV output from our .NETXML log file created by Kismet-newcore.
