ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005PE

I have been testing the ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005PE over the past couple of weeks, and what a brilliant little machine it is…

The PC itself has sophistocated curvy panels and a sharp look. The 1005PE comes in a variety of colours, blue, black, pink and white. ASUS installed a single mouse button. The left side of the netbook has a VGA and USB port. On the right hand side there is a 3-in-1 memory card reader, two USB ports, an Ethernet port, and headphone and microphone sockets. Above the display is a 1.3-mega-pixel webcam this provided clear images when I tested a Skype video conference with a friend.

The netbook has a 10.1 inch screen with 1024×600 resolution and weighs 2.8lb. I watched a copy of 24 and it was smooth and bright. The integrated speakers were OK and I listened to the radio all afternoon without any distortion or tinniness.

If you want to upgrade the RAM, it can be done really easily by unscrewing the plastic door on the back and add in another 2gb stick of RAM. The hard drive takes a bit more work to get out, but you do get 500gb online storage.

The netbook benefits from a one year warranty and a free telephone technical support line if you need it.

In my opinion, the Eee PC Seashell 1005PE is a really value for money netbook machine and is about the same price as the previous netbook and undercuts some of the competition on price. Overall it is better made than its predecessors, the battery life is more than adequate at about 8-10 hours of normal use. The feel is comfortable and sturdy and the keyboard is comfortable to type on.

I really like this little netbook, it is the most thought out netbook that I have seen to date and is excellent on the price. Take a look at some pricing from Amazon here
