Even though it’s outdated by Netbook standards, the Asus Eee PC 701 was reliable and durable companion during my travels through Southeast Asia and Australia. Although I would recommend the Series 901 for those interested in mobile computing, a quick look at the 701 gives a good baseline comparison for what you might look for in a Netbook. The standard 701 features: – Xandros (Linux) operating system – 7″ screen (800×480 resolution) – 900 MHz Celeron processor – 512Mb RAM (upgradable to 1Gb) – 4Gb Solid State Hard Drive – 802.11b/g WiFi – Ethernet Port – 3 USB 2.0 ports – Headphone and Microphone jack – Monitor Output Port – Expandable SD Card Slot – 1.3 megapixel integrated webcam – Kensington Lock – 4 cell 5200 mAH Battery with small battery charger – Neoprene Carry Case – Listed Battery Life is 3.5 hours but my own tests have yielded 2h15m under heavy usage This laptop worked great during my trip. I only moved on to the 901 because of the small screen and the inability to install programs with the stock Xandros operating system. This video was shot with a Canon G9 on loan.
Noo fiz o mesmo negocio com o meu

contact your laptop maker they will tell you
Dvd’s aren’t really a big deal…
I’ve never had the need to put a dvd on it. I don’t need to use dvd’s. Lately, I’ve been getting into “cloud” computing more and more. It’s the latest form of computing. That’s were computing is headed. I figure you will be seeing more and more computers that don’t have dvd drives. Just like you don’t see many computers with 3 1/2 inch floppy drives anymore. Anything else I may need storage for, I use SDHC cards or USB flash drives.
I don’t miss having a dvd drive at all.
U cant even out a dvd in it!
I got the black Eee PC 701 8G, it has 8G SSD and 1G RAM. Love it. I run Easy Peasy Linux. (Linux is pronounced like the word in. Not like the word wine.) Tried a couple different Linux distros. Might go with ‘Leeenux”. I keep Xandros on a USB flash drive for backup. Taking it to Taiwan and the Philippines and Thailand. Do I need different plugs? Got a 7800mAh Mugen Power battery. Lots of run time. 4400mAh battery is for spare.
I get the feeling that you’re a Filipino.
nice netbook man. that’s a hard working piece of hardware.
Sounds like this machine has served you very well
awesome review!
i beleive it 0.3 mp
Overclocked to 900Mhz too.
Oh, & I’m running XP too. I can also dual boot with Ubuntu from a flash drive.
Nope, 4GB. I’ve had mine for nearly 2 years (I’m using it right now) and it’s great for a portable PC. I upgraded to 2GB or RAM & have a 8GB SD card in it. If I need anything more I use my desktop.
4gb harddrive? thats a joke!
